I absolutely love Thanksgiving (who doesn’t?!?!) and each year I am honored to be the family member designated to pair my Mom and Neenaw’s delicious dishes with wine and spirits. This year will be my first Thanksgiving celebrated outside of the States (wish me luck finding a whole turkey in Buenos Aires!) but I am still there in spirit… and in spirits. I kid.
I promise if you follow this plan, you will gain energy and drop some weight provided you incorporate some exercise into your daily life. Drinking soft drinks is not conducive to good health. These beverages are loaded with sugar and are very acidic. Water is the best thing for your body especially when you want to improve your health.
You can make various lamps by using small strands of holiday lights. Something like a glass bottle can quickly become a lamp. Fill the “lamp” with the lights, making sure the cord comes back out the top of the bottle. Now strap the cord to the backside of the lamp – and give the lamp a more detailed look – by wrapping golden wire around the bottle at the top, middle and bottom. The lights inside the lamp will hide the cord at the back, and when plugged in, the entire lamp will glow. Tie or glue beads onto the gold cord to give the lamp a more distinct look. Make a lampshade by folding a piece of cardboard to make the shade, then cover with fabric.
Next, you want to experiment with several different herbs. Set up a small garden or flower box and get a feel for what’s required. You can get a wide variety of herbs and benefits of herbs and spices from any of the big-box hardware stores, or your local garden supply depot. Keep in mind that some will grow more successfully than others – it’s a learning process.
Our body is in need of water first thing in the morning. I drink about 40 ounces of pure water the first 15 minutes I am awake and before going for a 30 minute walk. Many nutritionists advise that you drink water 30 minutes or more before eating a meal and then do not drink during your meal so digestive juices can work more efficiently.
Another great thing about freshly ground coffee is it is perfect for serving guests and family members. Whenever I have a dinner party I make sure to ground the beans myself and serve the freshest coffee possible. That way the guests are happy and impressed. I often receive rave reviews from friends and family members about my coffee and they always ask to be invited back. Isn’t that what every successful host hopes to achieve when hosting a party?
A job change took me to south Florida for a couple of months – and during my brief stint there, the annual Indian Diwali celebration took place. The company encouraged us to celebrate the harvest feast festival at work, encouraging Indian attire and folks to bring and share homemade food – buffet style – at lunch. (As I recall we all had plenty to continue nibbling the rest of the day too!) During the day I began to talk with my then coworkers about India, the Hindu religion, differences between Muslim and Hindu, Buddhism and Hindu, etc. I like to ask questions and am curious about other cultures and religion.
So use your imagination – I’m sure you’ll be able to come up with more utterly fantastic gift ideas for your boyfriend that he’s sure to deeply treasure!
